THE GOODERHAM HOUSE (built 1891)

George Horace Gooderham (1868-142) built this unique house in 1891 and lived in it with his family until 1906. The Design in romanesque style is attributed to the firm of David Roberts.

G.H. Gooderham was in the family business, Gooderham and Words, LTD. , founded by his grandfather William, and in the financial, political and educational life ofToronto.

After 1908 the house was occupied by Leo Frankel, manifacturer and merchant, The ursulin sister's school; The Red triangle club, Big braders of Toronto.

For the last twenty-five years the building has housed Angelini’s restaurant, a Toronto landmark and one of the city's original fine dining establishments.

The establishment recently changed hands as Gooderham descendant Bret Snider and restaurateur Gerard Caleo joined forces to bring the facility back to life. The new team has committed to maintain its historic significance.

The building has been well preserved and cared for over the years and has unique period fixtures and features. Stained glass, ceramic tiles, handcrafted millwork and sandstone adorn the building. Amazingly, many mechanical elements are original and still function.
